Course Introduction:

In the 4 day SAFe® RTE course, you will learn how to play a critical role in leading Agile Release Trains (ARTs) to deliver value. This means that the RTE’s must create the right environment, have the right conversations, facilitate the right meetings, and gather the right people to make decisions based on the right data.

In the SAFe® RTE course, you’ll learn to execute SAFe® and continuously improve PI Planning and other key SAFe® events. You’ll discover how to coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in new processes and mindsets. And you’ll get the guidance and tools you need to work effectively in remote environments with distributed teams.

Course Description:

To perform the role of a Release Train Engineer, attendees should be able to:

  • Lead programs and large solutions in a SAFe organization. 
  • Apply Lean-Agile knowledge and tools to release value. 
  • Foster relentless improvement. 
  • Build a high-performing ART by becoming a servant leader and coach. 
  • Ensure strategy and execution alignment in the organization. 
  • Drive relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops. 
  • Assess the agility level of the ART and help them improve.

At the end of the course delegates can take the official SAFe® RTE certification exam. The course consists of a mix of theory and practical exercises. Most of the exercises will be done in small groups.

Prerequisites:

None. All are welcome to attend the course, regardless of experience. However, the following prerequisites are highly recommended:

  • Have participated in at least one ART and one PI 
  • Hold at least one current SAFe certification

 

Preparation in advance:

None

Course activities:

  • During course, 2-3 hours of evening work is required in order to take the exam
  • Classroom lecturing.
  • Individual and group assignments.
  • Exam preparation session

Included in the course:

  • Student workbook delivered in electronic PDF format
  • Preparation and eligibility to take the SAFe® RTE certification exam (with in 30 days of end of the course - extensions are available at cost)
  • One-year membership to the SAFe Community Platform (renewals are available at cost)
  • Course certificate of completion 
  • Attendees must attend all 4 days of the course in order to qualify for the exam.

  • Exam has 60 questions, alocated time 120 min, 47 to pass (78%)
  • The exam is online , at student convenience
  • Second attempt on exam (first retake - available at cost) can be done immediately after first attempt. Third attempt requires a 10-day wait. Fourth attempt requires a 30-day wait. (retakes available at cost)
  • Certified SAFe® Release train Engineer digital badge to promote the accomplishment online (in case of succesfull taking of the exam)
